After he fell down bleeding, the attackers demanded the money, and he gave them 150 US Dollars and some amount of Congolese francs. Mr. Qunicy Adams, the neighbor, who witnessed the shooting from his balcony, arrived at the scene and called the police from his cell phone. The perpetrators panicked and ran off with the money. After around 10 minutes, MONUSCO security officers and the police along with an ambulance arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to the MONUSCO hospital as he was beginning to lose consciousness due to the trauma and heavy loss of blood.

After his presence, the offenders rushed from the scene towards an old white Toyota Corolla with no registration plates and broken rear lights and drove off. Then, he rushed to the victim to provide first aid to stop severe bleeding from his left leg. One of the attackers seemed to be Jack Thonga, a well-known thief who was released recently from prison. MONUSCO police officers and four UN police arrived and obtained information from him about the victim and cordoned off the crime scene. They collected a 9 mm bullet shell and some hair samples mixed with blood as evidence and sent them to the forensic laboratory. The ambulance arrived afterwards, and the victim was rushed to MONUSCO hospital for further treatment. The investigations were continuing.
